Stewarding is a very important role at the Museum and without volunteers to do this the Museum would not be able to open it’s doors to visitors. The Museum is generally open to visitors from the beginning of April until the end of October (exact dates vary year to year) at the following times.
Stewards always work in pairs – expereince stewards would make sure that you are provided with the tools and knowledge to enable to you to steward effectively. Working with another steward also means that there is support for each plus there are always other volunteers available by phone to help with unexpected queries.
The Steward’s role is to open the Museum to visitors, make them feel welcome and answer any questions they may have (or if you don’t know, finding the answer and getting back to the visitor, where possible).
Stewarding gives you the opportunity to find out more about the area, meet people and help to keep this valuable asset, the Museum, open to visitors.
