The museum can be visited by groups, schools and organisations. Requests can be made to undertake specific activities linked to the education curriculum or topics; we will do our best to accommodate you. Please email us for more details on this or any of the following – we ask for a donation of £10 for each group visit.
Horn Park Quarry
Group visits to Horn Park Quarry can be organised through the museum – this fascinating site gives a unique opportunity to see fossils as they were laid down millions of years ago. To learn more about the quarry and its NNR status visit the Natural England website.
Beaminster Festival School Visits
Every year the museum offers the chance to schools to visit the museum and see our festival exhibitions.
We organise two activities for a visiting school which are linked to the festival exhibition and the museum in general. We are able to cater for no more than 40 children in one session as the museum is very limited on space.
In 2014 a few museum volunteers dressed up and talked to the children about what life was like in the workhouse, as a tradesman and a World War 2 nurse; while others were busy looking at our water exhibition and building bridges. The activities are different each year and are usually linked to the temporary exhibition in the main meeting room.
Transport costs are met by the Beaminster Festival.
